教育部今年度頒發26個教學卓越獎，希望能藉此提升教師教學績效及教學品質。

今年度的教育卓越獎遭批，教育部突然縮減名額、獎項獨頒都會區學校；教育部國民及學前教育署對此澄清，教卓獎歷年來都沒有公開告知獲獎名額數，而得獎名額也會依經費調整，都是依法辦理教卓獎，以鼓勵教師提升教學品質。
今年度教卓獎入圍名額從42隊縮減為26隊，國教署對此回應，教卓獎都依據《教育部教學卓越獎評選及獎勵要點》的規定辦理，歷年來都沒有事先公告獲獎名額數量，而是依當年度經費編列情形，提複審委員會議報告，並由複審委員視年度參賽情形微調金、銀質獎數量，並沒有突然公告名額減半的情形。
另外，獲獎學校是否獨頒都會區？國教署指出，今年度的國小組入圍金、銀質獎學校名單，包括桃園縣復興鄉介壽國小、新北市三峽區成福國小等偏鄉或非都會型學校，不應該因為學校座落於直轄市內，就將學校歸類於都會型學校。
國教署表示，為因應即將實施的12年國民基本教育，將從今年開始，針對具潛力卻沒有入圍金、銀質獎的佳作團隊，研擬每年補助上限10萬元，激勵所有參賽團隊精進教學，提升教學品質。
國教署解釋，教卓獎目的在於提升教師教學績效及教學品質，獎勵教學著有成效的教師團隊；評選方式分幼兒園、國小、國中及高中職4組，採取初選及複選兩階段辦理，其中初選由各地方主管教育行政機關辦理，高中職組台北市、高雄市、新北市政府教育局及教育部國民及學前教育署。
而今年度各縣市共推薦115團隊參加複選，複選工作由教育部委請桃園縣政府教育局辦理、桃園縣立大有國民中學承辦，入圍隊數結果共有26隊，分別為幼兒園組7隊、國小組8隊、國中組5隊及高中職組6隊。
