相信不少大學生或曾當過大學生的人，都經歷過早上8點第一堂課起不來的狀況。有大學教授直言，這是相當不好的狀況，因為陸生不僅早上課程都會準時到，甚至課餘時間都與他人討論課業，對比台生懶散狀況，「簡直比飛彈還恐怖！」。
教改總體檢論壇在14日舉辦記者會，台大社會系教授薛承泰首先指出，少子化對國內教育造成重大衝擊，且新生兒數量變少早有徵兆，但政府繼續設置新大學，他認為這相當白目。另外，現在的台灣學生常常上午缺席，例如早上9點的3學分課程，一半以上的學生會10點才到。對比陸生通常相當積極的態度，常常假日還在校內討論課業，他認為這比「100顆飛彈瞄準台灣」還驚人。
不過有台灣大學生認為，許多人翹課是為了做其他事情，且部分人對於主修科目沒興趣，自然不想上課。
