近年來，亞洲航空業不斷蓬勃發展，對空服員的需求也大大增加，此趨勢從台灣今年招募空服員的活動頻繁程度，可看出端倪。「今年，空服員招募活動到現在有14次，地勤也有8次，台灣學生對航空業報考的想法，必須改變」，空姐出身、投入航空服務教育多年的劉平分析，外籍航空大舉來台招募空服員，還有三家廉價航空也在今年到台灣招考，都是值得觀察的趨勢。
模擬國泰航空考試的演練會場裡，十名參加航空職前培訓的年輕男女分作兩組、圍成小圈，正用流利的英語討論著，考官是已飛了五年的學長，熱心地回台灣指點學弟妹應試技巧。國泰航空從2011年開始，在空服員面試中加入了議題辯論的內容，考官會立於一旁，觀察應試者在團隊內的應對表達、合作精神，與目前國內航空公司面試的制度相比，活潑許多。

「這種方法我覺得非常好」，空勤學園教務總監劉平表示，用辯論當作徵選空服員的條件，可以增加說服客人的能力，適當陳述自己的理念、不只是說「我不知道」，而可以直接解決客人的抱怨，「如果只是靠舊的方法，單純訓練英文口說，可能無法應付這樣的考試」。

為什麼這麼多青年男女嚮往外籍航空呢？「因為太自由、太舒服了」，劉平以國泰為例說，國泰對空服員相當照顧，福利很好，比如空姐只要簽名確認，即使是還沒結婚的男友，兩年內也能享有一折機票的福利，「如果在期限內分手，空姐等於是虧到了，所以在寫之前都是考慮再考慮，如此也可避免濫用」，另外，像假如有糾紛發生，國內航空往往是先懲罰空服員、什麼都是空服員理虧，可是國泰有強悍的工會制度，對空服員權益也相對有保障。 (接下一頁)
