【綜合報導】「秋風起，三蛇肥」，北半球時序入秋，蛇類為了準備冬眠，多會趁此時大量覓食，儲存能量好過冬。美國邁阿密一處靠山的別墅區，日前傳出有長達3公尺的非洲岩蟒蟒(African Rock Python)潛入民宅後院，並將院子裡一頭西伯利亞雪橇犬(Siberian Husky，哈士奇犬)活活絞死。

女主人看到院子裡被蟒蛇纏住的狗屍驚恐萬分，她的兒子看到平日活蹦亂跳的愛犬「公爵」(Duke)倒在地上動也不動，一時情緒激動，竟然徒手想把岩蟒從狗屍身上拉開，但怎麼扯都扯不動，他又拿起一旁園藝用的大剪刀，也剪不斷這尾岩蟒，女屋主連忙報警抓蛇。警方到場後將蛇誘導讓它自己鬆開公爵，順利將蛇抓起。雖然該處是高級住宅區，但因為一旁就是丘陵，警方表示曾在當地捕獲整窩的蟒蛇，女屋主驚呼「我從來沒聽說家裡附近有整窩的蟒蛇」，並警告家中若有兒童，切莫靠近，「這麼大條的蟒蛇，可以輕而易舉殺掉一個小孩」。
